Secure checkout by Stripe

Collecting ticket money shouldn’t mean chasing transfers.

Bank transfers with no reference, cash at the door, a spreadsheet of who has paid. Or a separate ticketing site that pays you after the event and sends guests their tickets by email, where they get lost.

With MsgOrb, guests pay when they RSVP, the money goes to your own Stripe account, and the entry pass goes to the place your guests already are: their WhatsApp chat with you. Your headcount only counts people who have paid.

How it works

Four steps from connecting Stripe to scanning passes at the door.

  1. Step 1

    Connect your Stripe account

Open Tickets in MsgOrb and connect Stripe. No account yet? You create one on Stripe’s own sign-up pages in a few minutes.

  2. Step 2

    Set a price

Choose which events are paid and set the price per person. Free events keep working exactly as before.

  3. Step 3

    Share your RSVP link

Guests choose how many tickets they want and pay by card on a secure Stripe checkout page. No app, no account.

  4. Step 4

    Entry pass on WhatsApp

As soon as Stripe confirms the payment, the guest’s entry pass arrives in their WhatsApp chat with you, ready for the door.

Your money

Your Stripe account. Your payouts.

You are the seller. Every payment, payout, refund and dispute lives in your own Stripe dashboard, and you can see it all there, any time.

Paid straight to you

Guests pay on your own Stripe account and Stripe pays out to your bank. MsgOrb never holds your money.

Booking fee paid by guests

2% of the ticket price plus $0.50 per ticket, added on top. Guests see the price, fee and total before they pay.

Stripe’s fee from your payout

Stripe’s card processing fee comes out of your payout, as with any Stripe payment.

Refunds in Stripe

Refund a guest from your Stripe dashboard. A full refund stops their entry pass and takes them off the headcount.

Buyers don’t use up your plan

People who buy tickets are not added to your contacts, so they never count toward your member limit.

Nothing counts until it’s paid

An unpaid booking is held for 2 hours, then released. Only paid guests get a pass or appear in your headcount.

What guests pay

The booking fee is 2% of the ticket price plus $0.50 per ticket, added on top. You set the ticket price and receive all of it, less Stripe’s card processing fee.

Ticket priceBooking feeGuest pays
$10.00$0.70$10.70
$25.00$1.00$26.00
$50.00$1.50$51.50

Prices are in your Stripe account’s currency. Outside the US, the fixed part of the fee is about $0.50 in your currency.

One pass, from payment to the door

A paid booking gets the same entry pass as a free RSVP: one pass for the whole group, with a QR code your door team scans from their own phone. It all runs on Event Check-in.

  • Scanned at the door

Your door team opens the door link on their phone. No login, and each pass works once.

  • A headcount of paid guests

See how many tickets are sold and who has arrived, live, on the event’s page.

  • Refunded means not valid

Refund a guest in full in Stripe and their pass stops working at the door.

Frequently asked questions

Step-by-step help is in the selling tickets guide.

Does MsgOrb hold the ticket money?

No. Guests pay on your own Stripe account, so the money is yours from the start and Stripe pays it out to your bank. MsgOrb only receives its booking fee, which the guest pays on top of the ticket price.

What does a guest pay?

The ticket price plus a booking fee of 2% of the price and $0.50 per ticket. For a $10 ticket the guest pays $10.70. They see the price, the booking fee and the total before they pay.

What do I receive?

The full ticket price, less Stripe’s own card processing fee, paid out to your bank by Stripe on its usual schedule.

Do guests need an app or an account?

No. They open your RSVP link, choose how many tickets they want and pay on Stripe’s checkout page. Their entry pass arrives on WhatsApp and is also shown on screen.

How do refunds work?

You refund guests yourself from your Stripe dashboard. A full refund gives the guest back everything they paid and stops their entry pass automatically. MsgOrb’s booking fee is not returned to you. Refund policy

Can an event have free and paid guests?

No. Each event is either free or paid. An event that already has free RSVPs can’t be switched to paid, so create a new event for paid tickets.

Which countries and currencies are supported?

Organizers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand and several other countries can sell tickets. The price is set in your Stripe account’s currency.

Which plans include tickets?

Every MsgOrb plan, including the free plan. Ticket buyers never count toward your plan’s member limit, so a busy event never runs you out of members. View pricing
