A template that promotes something: an invitation to something new, an offer, an appeal or a newsletter.
Anything that isn’t a direct follow-up to the person’s own request or transaction is usually marketing: promotions, invitations to a new event, fundraising appeals, newsletters.
Marketing is the most expensive category, $0.025 per message in the US and Canada at Meta’s list rate, and Meta can hold back marketing templates to people who receive many of them. People can also stop marketing messages from a business in WhatsApp itself.
