WhatsApp template
A message Meta has approved in advance, which a business must use to start a conversation on WhatsApp.
A business can’t message someone out of the blue in free text on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Any message it starts, such as a reminder, a receipt or an invitation, must use a template: wording submitted to Meta and approved before it is sent, with blanks for details like a name or a date.
Each template has a category, marketing, utility or authentication, which sets its price. Meta usually reviews a new template within minutes to a few hours.
Once the person replies, a 24-hour window opens and the business can answer in its own words without a template.
