Send a WhatsApp wish to people on their birthday or wedding anniversary, automatically. It is set per group, on the group's page under Birthdays and anniversaries.
Setting it up
- 1Open the group's page from Groups.
- 2Under Birthdays and anniversaries, turn on Birthday wishes, Anniversary wishes or both.
- 3Each needs an approved template. If you don't have one yet, the card shows the Birthday Wishes (or Anniversary Wishes) message: click Send to Meta for approval, check the wording, and click Yes, send it. Switch it on once Meta approves it. You can also pick any other approved template whose only blanks are the person's name and your organization's name.
Wishes go out at 9:00 AM in your organization's time zone on the day. Each person gets one birthday wish and one anniversary wish a year, even if they are in several groups with it on. Someone born on February 29 gets theirs on February 28 in other years.
Getting people's dates
- On the join link: under Ask on the join link, tick Birthday, Wedding anniversary or both. People who join with the group's link can then add them; both are optional for them. Someone already in your contacts who opens the link again can add a date they hadn't given.
- When you add someone: Add Member has optional birthday and wedding anniversary fields.
Good to know
- These are Marketing messages for Meta, so Meta charges its marketing rate for each one, billed to your own WhatsApp Business Account. While Meta's pause on marketing messages to US numbers lasts, US contacts are skipped.
- Contacts who replied STOP never get them.
- A contact gets the message in their own language when the template has an approved version in that language (Add language on Templates fills in a ready translation).
