Receipts
Every gift has its own printable receipt page: what was given, to which fund or fundraiser, the date and the amount, with your receipt note underneath. Givers land on it right after they give.
A giver who leaves their WhatsApp number also gets the receipt on WhatsApp:
The wording names what they gave: "your tithe", "your offering", "your giving to the Building Fund", or "your donation to" a fundraiser. The amount is what they gave, without a fee they covered.
Your receipt note
Write your receipt note under Giving → Funds & page. It is printed on every receipt and every year-end statement. Churches and charities usually include their legal name, tax ID and a line such as "No goods or services were provided in exchange for this contribution." MsgOrb does not decide what makes a gift tax-deductible. Check with your accountant what your note should say.
Year-end statements
Open Giving → Year-end statements. For each calendar year (in your organization's time zone) you see every giver and their total. Last year is shown until the end of March, then this year. Pick any year at the top.
- Open a giver to see their printable statement: every gift with its date, fund and amount, the total, and your receipt note.
- Download (CSV) gives you the whole year.
- Send statements on WhatsApp sends each giver who left a number a link to their own statement. Each giver gets each year's statement once.
Givers can also get theirs any time by texting STATEMENT to your WhatsApp number.
Gifts count at the amount given. A fee the giver covered is not part of their giving. Refunded gifts are left out. Givers are matched by WhatsApp number, or by the email Stripe collected when they left no number. Anonymous gifts can't go on a statement, but each still has its own receipt page.
The WhatsApp messages
When a giver hasn't written to you in the last 24 hours, receipts and statements use two Built-In Library templates: Payment Giving Receipt and Payment Giving Statement. On the Overview tab, WhatsApp messages for giving shows whether Meta has approved them. Click Add them to add both and send them to Meta for approval. Givers who text GIVE get their receipt free without them.
