Tithes and offerings

One giving page and QR code for your organization. Givers pick Tithe, Offering or one of your funds and give by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

With Giving, your organization gets one giving page with its own link and QR code. It is not tied to a WhatsApp group: anyone can give, with no sign-up and no app. The money goes straight to your own Stripe account. MsgOrb never holds it.

For an overview, see the Giving page. To start, open Giving in the sidebar. Only the workspace owner can set it up or change it, and your Stripe account must be connected first (on the Tickets page).

1. Set up your giving page

  1. 1Click Set up my giving page. Your page starts with two funds: Tithe and Offering.
  2. 2Open the Funds & page tab to make it yours, then click Save.

On that tab you can change:

  • Funds: add your own (for example Building Fund or Missions), rename them, change their order (up to 12) or remove them. A removed fund is only hidden, so past giving keeps its fund.
  • Heading and a short note (both optional), shown at the top of the page.
  • Quick amounts: the buttons givers can tap (up to 6, for example 20, 50, 100, 250). Givers can always type their own amount.
  • Receipt note: printed on every receipt and year-end statement. See Receipts and year-end statements.

You can close the page at any time on the same tab. Closing it stops new giving; nothing already given is affected.

2. Share it

On the Overview tab you'll find your link and QR code, with Share on WhatsApp, Copy link and Download QR code. Put the QR code in the bulletin, on the screen or on a card by the door, and share the link in your WhatsApp groups.

People can also text GIVE to your WhatsApp number to get a Give button straight away. See Text GIVE.

3. What givers see

  1. 1They pick what they are giving to (Tithe, Offering or one of your funds) and an amount.
  2. 2Name and WhatsApp number are optional, so anyone can give anonymously.
  3. 3They pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on Stripe's secure checkout.
  4. 4They land on a printable receipt page, and if they left their WhatsApp number, their receipt arrives on WhatsApp too.

The smallest amount online is US$2 and the largest is US$10,000 (about the same in other currencies).

Refunds are made in your Stripe dashboard.

5. Givers become contacts

When a giver leaves their WhatsApp number, they are added to your Givers group once their giving is paid, so you can keep in touch. The group is created for you the first time. The giving form tells them that adding their number means they agree to WhatsApp messages from you, and they can reply STOP at any time.

Givers count toward your plan's member limit like any contact. If you are at the limit, their giving still goes through but they aren't added. Someone who is already one of your contacts stays in their own group.

MsgOrb never sends "please give" messages or giving reminders: WhatsApp treats asking for money as marketing. People give from your link, your QR code, or by texting GIVE.

6. Following your giving

The Overview tab shows this month's total, the all-time total, a total for each fund and fundraiser, and every gift with the giver's name (or Anonymous), fund, date and amount. Download (CSV) exports the list. Amounts are what your organization receives, before Stripe's own fee.

Only the workspace owner sees who gave and the totals. Sub-admins see the giving page's link and QR code.
